Charred Broccoli

recipe image

"Ugh...Broccoli..not again," is what my kids used to say.  Not anymore.  Try this at home.  We have yet to find anybody who doesn't enjoy this healthy vegetable prepared this way.  Broccoli is readily available and has enormous nutritional benefits.  Google "Broccoli health benefits" and you'll see the info.  Try cauliflower, too...Just as good.

Broccoli is THE power food.

3 or 4 crowns of fresh broccoli
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Sea Salt

Preheat oven to Broil.

After washing the broccoli crowns, slice the florets lengthwise into halves or even thirds.
Place the flat side of the floret slices down on a cookie sheet.
Drizzle olive oil over the broccoli and sprinkle (sparingly) with sea salt.

Place into the oven for about 5 minutes. Remove when the outer portions turn black. Obviously all ovens vary so you may want to check on the broccoli every two minutes to make sure you don't burn it to a crisp.

Serve immediately!
